The National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC) was highlighted Oct. 22, 2018 during a plenary session at the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) 66th Annual Conference in Grand Rapids, MI. The speaker, Al Davis, Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Deputy Director and NDPC Chairman, spoke during the afternoon general session to nearly 2,000 conference attendees. The IAEM Annual Conference is a multi-day training and education event specifically for emergency management and planning personnel as well as decision makers from all levels of government, the private sector, and non-government agencies.

Mr. Davis gave an overview presentation on the NDPC, outlining the consortium’s mission of preparing the nation through training and their 20 year history of designing and delivering training. He spoke about the NDPC’s 20 year history, the seven consortium members and their competencies as well as what makes the NDPC unique as DHS/FEMA training partners for state, local, tribal and territorial communities. Training developed and delivered by the NDPC members is funded under the Homeland Security National Training Program through the DHS/FEMA National Preparedness Directorate’s National Training and Education Division (NTED). Since 1998 NDPC members have trained over 2.9 million emergency responders and managers, including many that were in attendance at the conference.
