The National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC) is a professional alliance sponsored through the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA National Preparedness Directorate. The consortium is made up of seven members, including the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) in Anniston, Alabama, the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech), Louisiana State University's Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education (National Center for Biomedical Research and Training), Texas A&M University National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (TEEX), the Department of Energy’s Nevada Test Site (NTS), the Transportation Technology Center, Inc. (TTCI), and the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center at the University of Hawaii (NDPTC). Each of these organizations has distinguished themselves nationally as experts in chemicals, explosives, radiological/nuclear devices, bioterrorism, counter-terrorism, agroterrorism, and emergency management systems. NDPC reflects the missions of all these organizations |
On behalf of my fellow NDPC consortium members, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Tim Manning to FEMA as Deputy Administrator of the National Preparedness Directorate. We enjoyed meeting with Tim at our last gathering in Washington, D.C. and are looking forward to growing our exciting programs under his leadership and guidance. A key thought I took away from our last few meetings has been the need for collaboration among the training partners within FEMA and the importance of sharing ideas and resources. Representatives from the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC) and the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) joined us at our last few meetings. Also joining us in Washington, D.C. was Glen Woodbury, Director of the Center for Homeland Defense and Security at the Naval Postgraduate School. This kind of collaboration is positive and proactive for the nation’s first responders and great for the NDPC. As chairman, I will continue to reach out to these training partners, and to seek opportunities to form new partnerships. I will encourage all other NDPC partners to do the same. The mission of the NDPC gives us great responsibility, and we must utilize every tool available to accomplish our goals.
